Advertising industry in Malaysia today has changed rapidly from traditional media to digital media under the competitive environment and changes in technologies in order to reach audience more effectively. Thus, Malaysia is a potential and lucrative market for exporters of advertising and inkjet material as well as digital advertising equipment.

Malaysia as one of the initiative members of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) has signed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2002 which enable the members to promote free flow of goods within the states and also to create a zero import duties by 2016. As at 2013, Malaysia has signed the FTA with Japan, Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Chile and Australia.

Furthermore, Malaysia as one of the important countries under the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Belt and Road Initiative by China act as a entrepot trade within ASEAN countries and relatively closer distance among Europe and Africa is providing a lucrative and promising market for the industry.
